Career Paths¶
A career path is an ordered roadmap towards a specific job role. Paths share the same tutorials and labs — you follow them in the order that matches your goal, without duplicated content.
Pick the role you want, check the duration and level, and start with the first technology in the path.
All paths¶
| Path | Level | Duration | Example roles | Primary technologies |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Beginner | Beginner | 4–6 weeks | Junior Linux Admin, IT Support | Linux, Shell, Networking, Git |
| Linux Administrator | Beginner | 8–12 weeks | Linux / Systems Administrator | Linux, Shell, Networking, Python |
| Cloud Engineer | Intermediate | 12–16 weeks | Cloud Engineer, Cloud Ops | Linux, Networking, AWS, Terraform |
| DevOps Engineer | Intermediate | 20–28 weeks | DevOps, Release Engineer | Docker, Kubernetes, GitLab CI, Terraform |
| Kubernetes Engineer | Intermediate | 12–16 weeks | Kubernetes / Container Engineer | Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Git |
| Platform Engineer | Advanced | 16–24 weeks | Platform / DX Engineer | Kubernetes, Terraform, observability |
| Site Reliability Engineer | Advanced | 16–24 weeks | SRE, Production Engineer | Linux, Kubernetes, Prometheus, Grafana |
| DevSecOps Engineer | Advanced | 14–20 weeks | DevSecOps, Cloud Security | Kubernetes, GitLab CI, security |
| Cloud Architect | Expert | 20–28 weeks | Solutions / Cloud Architect | AWS, Azure, GCP, Terraform |
| AI for DevOps | Intermediate | 10–14 weeks | Automation / AI-ops Engineer | Python, Linux, Docker |
How to choose¶
- New to IT or Linux? Start with the Beginner path — it builds the foundations every other path assumes.
- Already comfortable with Linux? Go straight to Cloud Engineer or DevOps Engineer.
- Working in ops today? Platform Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer, and DevSecOps Engineer deepen a specific specialism.
- Designing systems? Cloud Architect covers multi-cloud design and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) at scale.
How paths work¶
- Each path lists its technologies in learning order.
- Every technology links to the shared tutorial track with modules and labs.
- Finish with the path's projects and interview themes to become job-ready.
